Fuel for campfire cooking

Fire regulations permitting, campfires are fantastic for relaxing around at the end of the day and for cooking up delicious camp oven meals. Timber is obviously most commonly used as fuel for a camp fire, but with our limited cargo space, would need to be sourced locally.

Charcoal and heat beads are also popular alternatives in the event that timber is not an option. While they are less bulky than timber, they can still take up a fair bit of space in your car, and may also need to be sourced locally.

Check out our Leave no trace article which, in point 5, covers minimising campfire impacts, including the use of approved firewood.
